A dull, stiff or coated appearance does not by itself identify which product or process caused it. Keep the observation separate from the diagnosis.

Check the exact item and proposed use

Record the item, where the change appears and what has been used since receipt. Include the actual formula names and sequence if known. Compare a current photo with the original inspection image in similar light, then ask the supplier for the appropriate next step.

A hypothetical decision worksheet

FieldWhat to record
BeforeRecord what the item looked like at inspection and whether the concern existed before any use.
AfterList actual formulas or services used, with dates where relevant.
QuestionDescribe the visible change and ask for assessment without assigning an unverified cause.

In a hypothetical case, the lengths look dull after a new styling product is used. That sequence is relevant but does not prove a cause. Record where the change appears and what was applied. A different case, where the same appearance was present on arrival, needs that fact stated clearly. Avoid using another treatment simply to test a diagnosis you have not established.

Before acting

Do not assume a stronger cleanser or another coating is the answer. If an order concern existed before use, say so clearly. A factual record helps the provider distinguish the supplied finish, styling residue and an unresolved product concern without you having to decide the cause first.
